A revised guideline for emergency medical service providers on triaging patients in the field takes into account new automobile technology and recent research on outcomes among trauma patients. The guideline, which was produced by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and a panel of experts in trauma care, updates a 1999 version of the guideline (Sasser SM et al. MMWR Recomm Rep. 2009;58[RR-1]:1-35).
