This new journal serves as both a milestone and a facilitator of the increasingly coherent, sophisticated field of maternal and child health care. Three maternal and child health organizations sponsor the journal, which focuses upon practice, research, and policy. The journal addresses five key areas: epidemiology, demography, and health status assessment; professional development; service initiatives; policy analysis and advocacy; and program implementation.
Professionals from a number of major institutions including Johns Hopkins, Harvard, and the Child Health Bureau comprise the editorial board. The authors frequently have advanced degrees and positions indicating experience in the maternal and child health field.
