US Army medical teams treated 138,000 Haitians as part of the deployment there that has just drawn to a close after nearly 6 years. In 1994, the administration sent 20,000 US troops to Haiti to restore the elected government.

However, some US military medical people are expected to return to Haiti in May for a 6-month humanitarian mission.
