The National Hispanic Medical Association has teamed with pharmaceutical manufacturer Pfizer Inc to develop new patient education programs on cardiovascular health for Hispanic patients.
The program, Guía Para la Buena Salud Para los Hispanos (Guide to Healthy Living for Hispanics), provides culturally targeted information on preventing and controlling high cholesterol levels, hypertension, and diabetes. Educational tools used in the program include a 30-minute Spanish-language videotape with English subtitles that features Hispanic celebrities' personal accounts of heart disease. The videotape also includes messages on prevention and treatment from Hispanic physicians.
