The FDA and the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics will hold a symposium on July 22-23, 2002, on drug interactions with herbal products. The discussions will include mechanisms by which herbal products selectively modulate cytochrome P-450 and P-glucoprotein–mediated elimination; the clinical importance of drug/grapefruit interactions; and regulatory standards that influence food product safety and claims. The symposium will be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Bethesda, Md. For more information, log onto http://www.fda.gov/cder/workshop.htm.
