Rep Steve Buyer (R, Ind) said he will not seek reelection due to his wife's recent diagnosis with an “incurable” autoimmune disease.
Buyer's announcement came 4 days after Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) filed complaints with the Office of Congressional Ethics and the Internal Revenue Service against the 9-term representative, alleging that he had used his charity, the Frontier Foundation, Inc, to foot golf fundraisers at exclusive resorts attended by corporate donors, many of whom are health-related businesses (http://www.citizensforethics.org/node/43950). Buyer sits on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, which often deals with health issues.
