This textbook on diabetes mellitus edited by Leonid Poretsky is explicitly designed for medical students and nonendocrinologist physicians, rather than as a reference book for endocrinologists routinely involved in the management of diabetes. The style is therefore concise and essential, and the bibliography of each chapter is rich but not exhaustive. The inclusion of Internet resources in addition to traditional references to books and journal articles is appealing, particularly for medical students.
