Amsterdam—The dire threat to public health posed by the continuing rise in tuberculosis (TB) worldwide led to the convening here in March of a Ministerial Conference on Tuberculosis and Sustainable Development. At the close of the conference, participants issued the "Amsterdam Declaration to Stop TB," a document that describes the magnitude and seriousness of the global epidemic and points toward the possibility of stemming it.
