Simply stated, the mission of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF)
is to improve the health and health care of all individuals in the United
States. The nation's largest philanthropic foundation devoted entirely to
health issues, RWJF strives to realize its goals by tackling knotty, complex
problems, such as how to provide health insurance at a reasonable cost for
all. To this end, the foundation funds a wide array of research, health policy,
and education efforts to improve health care systems and conditions that promote
health, distributing $450 million in grants each year.
