The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) has
launched a clinical trial to evaluate an experimental treatment for patients
infected with West Nile virus (http://www.niaid.nih.gov/newsroom/releases/wnv_trials.htm). Through the trial, researchers hope to assess whether giving infected
individuals immunoglobulin containing antibodies to West Nile virus can reduce
the severity of illness.
