In Reply: Dr Stefan and colleagues suggest
that corticosteroids might influence the levels of adipocytokines. Although
this is a possibility, none of our patients with OA were receiving corticosteroids
or other immunosuppressive therapy. Furthermore, in the subgroup of patients
with RA, partial correlation analysis did not show any correlation between
adipocytokines and concomitant medication. In addition, none of the patients
with RA were receiving TNF-α inhibitors.
