Psychologist Dan Shapiro has offered us another book about his vulnerabilities as a patient and strengths as a psychotherapist and educator of health professionals. The author of Mom's Marijuana, an account of his five-year struggle with Hodgkin disease,1 Dr Shapiro currently teaches at the University of Arizona and is a psychotherapist in private practice specializing in the treatment of health professionals. In Delivering Doctor Amelia, he describes his counseling of a physician who has severe emotional difficulties after delivering a baby with cerebral palsy.
