The first-ever piece of legislation directly addressing spinal cord
injury and paralysis research passed unanimously in the Senate on November
16. A similar measure was approved unanimously in the House on October 7.
The legislation asks the National Institutes of Health to prepare a
report on how it encourages using multidisciplinary research teams to advance
treatments, develop new therapies, and collaborate on clinical trials of spinal
cord injury and paralysis.
