Book and Media Reviews Section Editor: Harriet S. Meyer, MD, Contributing Editor, JAMA.
Cancer can have many consequences or outcomes. Not only does it have the potential to cause premature death and disability, the diagnosis and treatment of cancer can disrupt the lives of individuals and families, leading to significant reductions in emotional, social, and financial well-being. Therefore, it is critically important to more fully understand the human and economic consequences of cancer and to quantify them in meaningful ways. Outcomes Assessment in Cancer can help move us in that direction.
