Over the past five decades the specialty of emergency medicine has emerged and flourished. There is little doubt that the result has been improved care for the more than 100 million Americans who visit emergency departments (EDs) each year. Nearly all the early leaders of emergency medicine are still alive and available to discuss the rich history of the specialty in the United States. Dr Brian Zink has taken advantage of this unique opportunity, and in Anyone, Anything, Anytime clearly presents the development of emergency medicine through the eyes of these pioneers.
