The highly successful first English-language edition of Hepatology promptly sold out and required a second printing, which was fully deserved. Four years later, a revised English-language edition has appeared, expanding the features that had resulted in this text's acceptance and popularity.

Hepatology uses consistent logic in its format and organization and excellent color printing to a degree that exceeds nearly all American efforts. Each chapter begins with a content page that lists the topics covered, with corresponding page numbers. Grey boxes isolate historical features, pink and blue boxes set apart overviews and summaries, and yellow provides emphasis in tables and concept diagrams. Each time a new concept is discussed, a large black dot indicates the major change in content.
