New models for addressing litigation issues over medical errors were proposed on June 29 by the chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, Sen Mike Enzi (R, Wyo). Enzi and bill cosponsor Sen Max Baucus (D, Mont) introduced the Reliable Medical Justice Act (S 1337 [http://thomas.loc.gov]), which would authorize funding for states to create demonstration programs to test alternatives to current medical tort litigation.
