Book and Media Reviews Section Editor: John L. Zeller, MD, PhD, Fishbein Fellow.
The Cleveland Clinic has formed a heart failure center that coordinates care among a multidisciplinary team of cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, specialty nursing staff, pharmacists, social workers, and consultants. The success of this endeavor encouraged the editors (previously the medical and surgical directors of the Kauffman Center for Heart Failure at the Cleveland Clinic) to create a textbook that would “explain that process and our thinking about how to approach patients with various stages of heart failure.” Each of the 16 chapters in this multiauthored text (more than three fourths coming from the Cleveland Clinic staff) is devoted to a single aspect of the treatment of heart failure.
