Book and Media Reviews Section Editor: John L. Zeller, MD, PhD, Contributing Editor.
When first reading Piatigorsky's Gene Sharing and Protein Evolution, one of the most unique qualities is the abundance of take-home messages that transgress interdisciplinary boundaries and render the text a tremendously informative resource for a diversity of audiences. Above all, a fascinating teaching emerges from the text and should become a guiding principle for students and established investigators irrespective of discipline: “the trick is to observe Nature without bias and appreciate its resourcefulness, think imaginatively, dare to take a chance, and expect the unexpected” (p 234).
