Herzog condiders the work that has been done on the "trachoma bodies" of Halberstadter and Prowazek, and gives a fairly complete bibliography. In his opinion the "trachoma bodies" are mutation forms of the gonococcus of Neisser. His theory and his work are very entertaining but not completely convincing.
