These two volumes will be found useful and valuable as a standard reference work on the subject of urology. One only needs to look over the list of contributors to know that each subject is covered by an authority. It lacks the smoothness found in a work by a single author, but this is necessarily unavoidable in a correlated set of monographs. For this reason it is most valuable as a reference work for those interested in urology, and not as a textbook for the student. The numerous engravings and plates are very instructive, and the bibliographies at the end of each chapter are extremely useful. In the preface the editor calls attention to the importance and rapid advancement of urology, and states that this specialty stands today in America, at least on a par with the position it has made for itself abroad.
