The unusual course and findings of this case, and its extreme rarity, warrant the careful, detailed report.
REPORT OF CASE
—Mrs. L. S., aged 25, married five years, began menstruating at the age of 14. The first child, born in 1915, was a forceps case and died in one week from cerebral hemorrhage. The second child, born in 1916, is living and well. From the time this second child was 10 months old, the mother had menstruated regularly up to the early part of December, 1918. The latter part of December, two weeks following her menstrual period, her husband died of influenzal pneumonia, and when she failed to menstruate in January, she went to a midwife, who introduced a soft rubber catheter into the uterine cavity, where it remained for two days. One week later this was repeated and she then bled for three days. Two weeks after abortion
