In the two years that have elapsed since the appearance of the last edition of this book, research in biochemistry and the laboratory methods of diagnosis has been extensive. In his preface, the author calls special attention to the new methods that have been added as the result of such work. The position of this book in the field that it covers is secure, and the rapid appearance of new editions, keeping pace with progress in science, is evidence of the effort and care taken to keep it in that position.
