Six editions of this comprehensive work attest its general usefulness and merit. The authors present their material scientifically and without prejudice. They feel that the greater interest taken in diet during the last few years has contributed much, and the future will see even more important studies in this field. They have followed the modern trend closely, so that this edition represents in many sections a distinct advance over previous volumes.
