The first volume of Neuburger's History of Medicine has been before the medical public for many years, a monumental work which has established a standard that is at once the admiration and the despair of other medical historians. Unfortunately, the second volume has repeatedly been delayed by many uncontrollable conditions, including, of course, the Great War. The publishers now present part one of volume II, including chapters on medieval medicine, Arabic influence on Western medicine, medicine in the later middle ages, and a historical survey of medieval literature. The publisher also announces that the remaining parts of the English edition will appear "as and when the German original is published."
