The first edition of this book attracted wide attention as representing a biologic contribution to an undertanding of the functions of the human brain. The author assumes a mechanistic view of human nature but sees therein no destruction of human values. In his second edition he has revised the work critically, corrected a few errors, and brought the book quite down to date in the light of recent research.
