The author indicates that the book is intended to be of "material assistance to the young specialist and to the general practitioner in particular." While the title indicates that this is nonsurgical treatment of the various parts involved, in a good many instances surgical indications and technic are mentioned as expressions which enhance the value of the context. The work, while not voluminous, nevertheless covers the subject with considerable detail. Numerous practical points are given, and in many instances illustrative prescriptions are included. The work is systematically arranged, and the various paragraphs are well marked with the titles in large type so that reference to the various subjects is easily made. Indications for surgical intervention are based on good judgment, and the therapeutic suggestions show good common sense.
