The numerous editions of this handsomely printed and illustrated textbook on the diseases of the skin may be taken as an indication of the desire of the author and the publisher to keep the volume strictly up to date in its field. This is especially the case since the mechanical considerations involved in the revision and reprinting of a book of this scope are considerable. The new edition is marked by the elimination of much obsolete matter, a concrete presentation of the advances made in the diagnosis and treatment of syphilis, and the addition of sections on some of the more recently discovered disturbances of the skin, such as Fox-Fordyce disease, mycotic paronychia (Kingery-Thienes), congenital ectodermal aplasia, cheilitis, actinica chronica (Ayres), ulcus vulvae acutum, glossitis rhombica mediana, achromia parasitica, and the dermatologic aspect of rat-bite fever.
