Abstract

This monograph analyzes in detail the results of legal necropsies in the medicolegal institute in Copenhagen in 380 traffic deaths. It is an important contribution to medicolegal literature. There are chapters on the nature of the material studied, on the external and internal lesions produced under various circumstances, on the causes and modes of death in traffic accidents, and on the legal aspects of modern traffic death. It is shown that in certain cases the character of the lesions in the dead body may point to a particular kind of traffic trauma. An important outcome of this work is emphasis on the need of a complete medicolegal necropsy in practically every instance of death connected with street or highway traffic.
