The National Council of Research  At its recent sessions, the Consiglio nazionale delle ricerche, presided over by Guglielmo Marconi, devoted itself to planning a program of research in biology, medicine and nutrition. It was decided that the committee on biology should organize a new biologic station for applied genetics, experimental embryology and the physiology of persons subjected to high pressures. The research will be distributed among various universities.A special commission is dealing with the problems of alimentation. Investigations are under way to promote the knowledge of the chemical composition, the caloric value and the vitamin value of the foods produced in Italy. The basal metabolism of Italians according to age and sex is being studied. Research is being carried on to establish the alimentary requirements of children and adults, pregnant and nursing women, laborers and soldiers.The committee on medicine will suspend for a year the epidemiologic studies on
