This is a new volume of Hertzler's monographs and deals with the surgical pathology of the skin, fascia, muscles, tendons, blood and lymph vessels. The book is divided into three parts. Part I deals entirely with the diseases of the skin. Part II deals with diseases of the fascia, muscles and tendons, and part III considers diseases of the blood and lymph vessels. A little more than half of the volume is devoted to diseases of the skin. Of the ten chapters in the work, five are devoted to the skin. The author has found that in his clinic more patients present themselves with hopeless malignant growths the result of neglected or maltreated simple lesions of the skin than from cancer of the uterus, mammary gland or lip. He emphasizes that adequate early treatment of these simple lesions would rid these patients of their disease but that only too often
