This work takes up indications for surgical treatment, the methods available, and the probable therapeutic result. While there is some discussion of the anatomy and pathology as it becomes necessary to present the clinical picture, the operative technic is not included. Volume I includes, in the first part, surgical conditions in general, asepsis, antisepsis, anesthesia, surgical infections, injuries, and tumors. In the second part, surgical diseases of the skin, muscles and tendons, the lymphatics, the blood vessels, the nerves and the osseous system are considered. The third part begins a discussion of surgical conditions of the special regions in the body, but includes only the extremities. The indications, methods of treatment and results of these conditions are presented so as to be of value to the practitioner as well as to the general surgeon.
