A concise account is given of seven cases of virilism of supposed suprarenal origin in which unilateral suprarenalectomy was done. The regression of the virilism following this operation was slight and variable. Microchemical studies of the suprarenal cortex of these cases are presented, the authors presenting evidence of an increase in the suprarenal cortex of a specific "fuchsinophilic" substance as a causative factor in this type of virilism.
