Abstract

To the Editor:  —In The Journal, March 19, page 928, I noted a little item referring to the centenary of aluminum and quoting Wöhler as the discoverer of this metal. Only a few weeks ago I was talking with Mr. Junius D. Edwards of the Aluminum Company of America about this very matter. Mr. Edwards convinced me, in the light of information recently dug up, that the real discovery of metallic aluminum was not made by Wöhler, but by Oersted.
