This edition of Hassin's Histopathology of the Nervous System is larger and contains beautiful illustrations. It is one of the best textbooks in the field of neuropathology. This edition differs from the first by the addition of an introductory chapter on general basic features of normal and pathologic histology. In addition there is a chapter on diseases of the cerebellum and an outline of the changes found in electrocution. There are five parts consisting of general considerations, diseases of the peripheral nerves, diseases of the spinal cord, diseases of the brain and staining methods. Hassin does not differentiate between neuritis and neuropathy but describes the types found in various disease entities. The author's chapters on inflammatory and degenerative diseases are excellent.
