In this edition the author has included much of the recent work on high blood pressure and the diseases of which it is a symptom. The whole work has been revised and amplified. Methods for the determination of blood pressures, and the types of apparatus for their determination, are discussed at length. High blood pressure is regarded as a symptom, and the relatively graver significance of high diastolic pressures is emphasized. In the discussion of methods of treatment a laudable conservative view is taken and a rational dietary, general hygienic and medicinal therapy advocated.
