Abstract

In The Journal, February 1, page 363, in the discussion of Dr. Arthur S. Calman on the paper by Dr. Harry E. Bacon, two sentences were inadvertently omitted. After the sentence "A suture ligature of number 00 plain catgut, which is absorbed shortly, is then passed around the distal end of the hemorrhoid and ligated" the following two sentences should follow: "The hemorrhoidal mass, composed of vein and periphlebitic areolar tissue, is then dissected out from its bed without sacrificing any mucosa. The two mucosal flaps covering the operative area are not sutured together."
