Meeting of the Roumanian Medical Association
The Roumanian General Medical Association recently held a house warming in connection with the annual congress. The association moved into its own building. In order to ensure greater attendance, the board of directors provided all members living outside the capital with reduced railway fares. Professor Gheorghiu, president of the association, in his opening address outlined the activity of the central board, elected three years ago. Its first deed was the establishment of branches in all greater centers of the country. It initiated and also completed the erection of a palatial building for the headquarters of the association. As the necessary sum to this end was not forthcoming either from the fund of the association or from the voluntary contributions of members, it decided to issue lottery tickets and to arrange opera performances, and the revenues of these covered all the expenses connected with the
