In Reply Dr Grifo’s group has been a pioneer in egg freezing. However, the 2013 data from their center reported to the national registry of the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology contradict their letter.

The NYU Fertility Center reported that 59.3% of their recipients had live births following fresh donor oocyte in vitro fertilization but only 48% following treatment with cryopreserved donor oocytes.1 This represents an 11.3% absolute difference in favor of fresh donor oocytes, which exceeds the average national difference reported in our study.
