The author of this book selected the subject of Spontaneous Hemopneumothorax, in which he has a large experience, for his doctorial thesis. In an introductory chapter he discusses spontaneous hemopneumothorax, the importance of the various forms of the condition and the relation between spontaneous pneumothorax and spontaneous hemopneumothorax. A review of the literature, especially Argentine literature, on the subject is covered in chapters 2 and 3, which include a clinical and roentgen study of cases observed and treated by the author. The symptoms, clinical forms, differential diagnosis, course, prognosis and therapy of spontaneous hemopneumothorax are discussed in chapters 4, 5, 7 and 8. In chapter 6 the author deals with the history, pathologic anatomy and roentgen aspects of subpleural blebs, the pathogenic role of subpleural blebs, the importance of pleuroscopy and pleurophotography in spontaneous hemopneumothorax and the histology of the conditions. The book contains many roentgenograms, photomicrographs and neat illustrations
