To the Editor:
—I notice an interesting editorial on asthma and allergy in The Journal, August 6, page 452.In my paper in the Archives of Internal Medicine (May, 1927, page 625), I presented conclusions which are, I believe, a step in advance of the conception of the etiologic basis for bronchial asthma. I may say that in a paper on anaphylaxis and roentgen rays (Klin. Wchnschr.6:1027, 1927), Schneider has shown that roentgen rays prevented the death of mammals from anaphylactic shock. This would indicate a chromosomal constitution as the basis for the bronchial asthma.
