The Congress on Sanitary Organization  The thirty-second Netherlandic Congress on Sanitary Organization was held, this year, in Amsterdam. The main subject discussed was the prohibition of alcoholic beverages; more particularly, the project of giving the communal councils the right to cancel all licenses to dispense alcoholic beverages, which have been granted since 1904. Before such action can be taken, the proposal must be approved by three fourths of the members of the communal council. A second matter that was discussed was the paper presented by Van der Kaa, who made a strong plea for the erection of a greater number of one-family houses in opposition to the construction of large apartment houses. He brought out that there was no essential difference in the cost of the two types of dwellings.
