This brings down to date the epitomized textbook of Young, published in 1921 as one of the Edinburgh medical series. A consideration of endometrioma has been added, and, as with the subject matter generally, the author states what he believes to be the facts of the condition without entering into any discussion of the theories of causation or quoting contributors on the subject. The accepted characteristics of each subject are tersely stated and the accepted treatment of each is outlined. Radium treatment of carcinoma of the uterus has been revised and briefly summarized. The work is profusely illustrated, so that the brief text really supplements the illustrations rather than the reverse. While the book is not comparable to the larger works of Schröder, Crossen or Graves, it nevertheless fulfils a need for students and practitioners for a concise textbook.
