The recently passed Senate veteran spending bill includes a provision allowing the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to cover the cost of assisted reproductive technology for veterans whose service-related injuries prevent them from conceiving children naturally.
The VA has been barred from covering the cost of fertility treatments for wounded veterans for more than 20 years, according to Sen Patty Murray (D, Wash), a senior member of the Veterans Affairs and appropriations committees who has been advocating for such coverage for several years (http://1.usa.gov/1ZcZsDP).
