In June, Vice President Joe Biden visited the University of Chicago to commemorate the launch of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Genomic Data Commons (GDC), a new system for cancer researchers to share genomic and clinical data. The system is an integral element of the National Cancer Moonshot Initiative and the President’s Precision Medicine Initiative.
The GDC’s mission is to provide “the cancer research community with a unified data repository that enables data sharing across cancer genomic studies in support of precision medicine” (http://1.usa.gov/1YpEVxq).
