Abstract

Traffic Accidents in Tokyo  It is quite remarkable how the number of motor cars has increased in Tokyo. Street accidents occur so frequently that deaths and injuries average forty-seven every day. According to the statistics of the Metropolitan Police in Tokyo, during last year there were 28,953 accidents, 17,062 of which resulted in the death or injury of the victims. The accidents of motorcycles are increasing year by year, the number of deaths during last year being more by 150 than that of the previous year. According to the new regulation published last year, the injured pedestrians are to be punished in case they induce the accidents through their own carelessness.
