To the Editor:—
There has been misunderstanding regarding the cost of "continuous caudal anesthesia for painless childbirth" proposed by Hingson and Edwards. Comment by radio, magazine and newspaper reviewers contains the statement "Cost of the new method, it is estimated, should average about $3 per patient." This "cost" refers only to cost of materials and not average charge which will be made for the administration of continuous caudal anesthesia.
