By the Bernheim syndrome is meant venous asystole due to stenosis of the right ventricle of the heart caused by a displacement or bulging of the interventricular septum in cases of eccentric hypertrophy of the left ventricle. The monograph is evidently the result of painstaking study of the subject and of critical clinical observation. The literature is carefully reviewed; the pathology and symptomatology are clearly discussed. Reports of twenty-seven cases are appended, three of them being the author's own.
