Hearing Focuses on Proposed Cuts in Cancer Research

Hearings held at the end of March before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform were intended “to review developments in research relating to curing certain cancers.” The event took place amid President Trump’s proposal to reduce the 2018 budget of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) by $5.8 billion—which could reduce funding for the National Cancer Institute (NCI) by an estimated $1 billion.
