Stereotactic Radiotherapy Is Superior for Benign Brain Tumors

JAMA. 2017;318(8):690. doi:10.1001/jama.2017.10995

Stereotactic conformational radiotherapy (SCRT) provided superior long-term functional neurocognitive and neuroendocrine outcomes without compromising survival in young patients with benign or low-grade brain tumors compared with conventional radiotherapy. The study, reported in JAMA Oncology, provides the first high-level evidence that the newer radiotherapy technique is effective, despite its routine use.
